Privacy Policy
Last updated September 8, 2026
Nite Nite Stories makes gentle, personalised bedtime stories for children. We know that means you're trusting us with details about your little one β and we take that seriously. This policy explains, without the usual legal fog, what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
We collect only what we need to write your child's story β your email, and your child's first name, age, and interests. We never sell your data.Children don't create accounts or use the app directly; you do, on their behalf. You can see or delete your family's information any time by emailing hello@nitenitestories.com.
Who we are
Nite Nite Stories (βwe,β βus,β βourβ) provides an online service that generates personalised bedtime stories. We are the data controller for the information described here. For any privacy question or request, reach us at hello@nitenitestories.com.
Information we collect
We keep this deliberately small:
- Your account details β the email address you sign up with, and your name if you provide it. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
- Your child's story details β a first name (or nickname), an age, and one or more things they love. You provide these; your child never enters anything themselves.
- The stories we create β so you can read them again in your library.
- Payment information β handled entirely by our secure payment processor. We receive your subscription status and the last four digits of your card for reference, but we never see or store your full card number.
- Basic technical data β the kind every website receives, such as your device type and general activity, used to keep the service running and secure.
How we use it
- To write and save personalised stories for your child.
- To create and manage your account and subscription.
- To email you about your account β trial reminders, receipts, and important service notices.
- To keep the service safe, reliable, and free of abuse.
We do notuse your child's information to show them advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles of children.
Children's privacy & COPPA
Protecting children's information is central to how this service is built. We follow the principles of the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and comparable rules for younger users elsewhere.
- Accounts are for adults. Only a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over may create an account. Children do not sign up, log in, or interact with the service directly.
- You provide your child's details.Any information about a child β a first name, age, and interests β is entered by you, the parent or guardian. By entering it, you consent to our using it to generate that child's stories.
- We ask for the minimum. We only collect what's needed to personalise a story. We don't request a child's full name, address, photo, birthday, or contact details, and we ask you not to include sensitive details in the βinterestsβ field.
- No ads, no profiling, no selling. We never use children's data for behavioural advertising and never sell it.
- Your rights as a parent. You can review the information we hold about your child, ask us to delete it, and refuse any further collection β by emailing hello@nitenitestories.com. Refusing further collection may mean we can no longer personalise stories.
If you believe a child has provided us information without a parent's involvement, please contact hello@nitenitestories.com and we will delete it promptly.
How stories are generated
Stories are written using AI technology. To create a story, we send this AI technology the story details you entered β your child's first name, age, and interest β so it can weave them in. We send only what's needed for that one story.
The AI technology processes this to generate the story and, under its terms, does not use it to train its models. Because stories are machine-generated, we recommend a parent read a story before sharing it at bedtime.
Who else touches your data
We rely on a small number of trusted providers (β subprocessorsβ) to run the service. Each receives only what it needs for its job:
- A secure data storage providerβ securely stores your account, your child's story details, and your saved stories, and handles sign-in.
- A secure payment processor β processes payments and manages your subscription. It handles your card details directly under its own privacy policy.
- AI technology β generates the story text, as described above.
These providers act on our instructions and are bound to protect your information.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information or your child's information to anyone, and we never share it for third-party advertising. Full stop.
Keeping it safe & how long we keep it
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No online service can promise perfect security, but we work hard to earn your trust.
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account or ask us to remove your family's data, we delete it from our systems, except where we must keep limited records (for example, billing records) to meet legal obligations.
Your choices & rights
- See your data β request a copy of what we hold about you and your child.
- Correct or delete it β update details in the app, or ask us to erase them.
- Cancel anytimeβ manage or cancel your subscription from your account's billing page.
- Opt out of non-essential emailβ while we'll still send essential account notices.
Depending on where you live (for example, the UK/EU under GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have additional rights over your personal information. To exercise any of these, email hello@nitenitestories.comand we'll help.
Where your data is stored
Our providers may process and store data in countries other than your own. Wherever it's handled, we require appropriate safeguards to keep it protected to the standard described in this policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service grows. If we make a significant change, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know by email. Continuing to use Nite Nite Stories after a change means you accept the updated policy.
